Pilafs / Wedding Pilaf


1½ cup of rice

1 chicken breast

3 cups of water (or chicken broth) (600 ml.)

3 pieces of puff pastry (6 squares)

3 tbsp vegetable oil

1 tbsp butter

Black Pepper, Salt

1 - 2 tbsp of currants

1 egg yolk

Sesame seeds/black cumin seeds


How to cook

Boil the chicken breast in a salty water until the chicken is thoroughly processed. Then separate into small pieces and set aside. Put the rice in salted water for 20 minutes and rinse. Put the vegetable oil in a rice bowl and put the rice in it. Add the salt and cook by stirring. Add the butter and mix. Pour 3 cups of chicken broth and let it boil. After starting to boil, close the lid and cook over low heat until the broth is soaked. After rice is softened, take it from the stove and leave it for 10 minutes. Then add the chopped chicken breast, currants, black pepper and stir. Allow to cool (do not close the lid later). Remove the puff pastry leaves from the freezer and wait for 5 minutes. Cut them in half and take the square puff pastry leaves. Place one of the square puff pastry leaves on a plastic wrapper and press the edges of the puff pastry with your fingers to grow. Place the rice mixture in the center of the pastry as a filling and put the edges together. Place the filled pastries on the bottom tray in a baking tray. Wipe the egg yolks on them and sprinkle some sesame seeds and black cumin seeds. Finally, cook in a preheated oven at 190 ° C until golden brown. After cooking, rest the rice for  a while and serve it afterwards.
